A comparison between the Lucia and Prototype Kappa: the first is characterized by the rigid and orthodox metal joint, the second by the magnificent sculptural hips.

Kappa

Prototype of an Ashtreewood chair

The design was developed at the same time than Nodo and constitutes its replica made of a single material.

The structural fulcrum extends the formal impact on the entire length of the four main axes involved. A “K”profile,  formed by four pentagonal wedges tapered on the opposite side of the joint, supports seat and backrest.

The design formally results in a tension which goes from top to ground.

The compact and robust joint has a thickness of 5/6 cm: Prototype Kappa is too heavy and expensive for the market, therefore it does not go beyond the first phase of manufacturing.
