RESEARCH METHODS
Following the Triennale’s curatorial choice MuDeFri has only selected women in industrial/craft design. Women architects, graphic designers, artists working in Friuli Venezia Giulia have not been object of the researche.
Initially, we focused on researching professional women in the field of design in all FVG provinces, widening the previous research made by the organizers of the exposition ‘Women in Italian design’. At this stage curators have been: Sara Florian for Pordenone, Diego Kuzmin for Gorizia, Lorenzo Michielli and Valentina Grego for Trieste, Anna A. Lombardi for Udine.
It is our intention to progressively update this list with further descriptions and external links. We will try to enter the same number of women designers for each province.

Thanks to this research, one of the comments we are able to make is that women designers’ activity in Friuli Venezia Giulia often reflects ancient local traditions such as pottery, textile, jewels, mosaic and furniture design. Another comment concerns the fact that craftmenship seem the professional world most woman designers are keen to be involved in. A number are architects working as interior designers. Few are those employed in companies’ technical departments. Finally, freelance professional designers are a minority.
