The use and "non-use" of the product makes an indissoluble whole. Therefore Pasquinelli’s design, always in between "motion of order" and "reasons of taste", is not dominated uniquely by the options offered by  the idea of reducibility,  meaning to design stackable or easy to dismantle chairs, etc.  Indeed, there is a notable amount of cases – the fixed chairs in particular, but not only - in which the author explicitly defers their "non-use” to the grace of the frame.

Pasquinelli’s professional  "philosophy" is very practical and elementary. He wants to know the context, where the chair  will be used: in a study, around a dining table, in a waiting room and so on. To Know-how and experience naturally are added a number of other considerations - dimensional, techniques, materials - that have always helped Pasquinelli to condense projects into forms.

The distinguishable trait of Mauro Pasquinelli’s design is simplicity. The Chair Europa is the result of a really minimal design where  the designer manage to connect sides, seat and backrest with only 5 or 6 joints.

Chair Europa was awarded with the 1st price at the Italian Competition “A chair for Europe” at the V Salone Nazionale della Sedia di Udine, in 1981.

The Chair Europe builds on the experience gained by studying the type of folding chairs. Pasquinelli often simulates their severe and minimal profile, and the structure (where the front leg leans on the back one).

But the art of Pasquinelli shows its weight – and its lightness - in the sharp edges of the seat, especially when cleaves  the backrest.
