In popular tradition, the origins of which are Celtic and Germanic, the dwarfs are nameless and indistinguishable from one another in  both appearance and character.  Indeed, it was Disney himself who created the different individual dwarfs, each with its own personality, for his 1937film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs:

Doc, the leader of the seven dwarfs.
Dopey, he is clumsy and mute.
Bashful, very shy and sweet.
Grumpy, the bad-tempered one.
Sneezy, whose name is earned by his extraordinarily powerful sneezes.
Sleepy , always tired and laconic in most situations.
Happy, he is the joyous dwarf and always laughing.
