BEPPEROKKO

design-free

This exhibition is the Mudefri’s tribute to Beppe Rocco, artist, designer, architect, passed away in 2014. The title is borrowed from a self created catalogue, in which he announces his will to shy away from the any orthodox or comfortable professional definition. The objects shown in this exhibition are handmade: do they belong to the art or to the industrial world? They were not conceived on paper "but sprout by chance and by encounters, by a continuous medley of people and things, desires and  fortuity"; they are characterized by functions, often complex such as  lighting, and by the re-use of discontinued objects or materials. It that handicraft? Are the unique pieces designed by Beppe Rocco meant to be expensive? No, that was not the spirit driving his creations, as all of them are potentially industrial products. This is their true calling.
