Ergonomic backrest, flexible and elastic, but also compact, adaptable, breathable, lightweight yet durable, designed in a modular fashion so that they can be built and customized on the structure of the specific person asking for it. The Tarta system is designed primarily to improve the posture of disabled people in wheelchairs, paying particular attention to all their needs, then bringing this experience in different fields of application in everyday life. Some examples made over the application in wheelchairs are office chairs, relaxing chairs and a comfortable way to the sofa or chair. The materials are in fact designed for maximum performance, the harmonic steel used inside of the vertebrae satisfies the natural movements of the person leaving freedom of movement while still maintaining a perfect ergonomic support.

From Passons to Rio de Janeiro: the images of hi-tech backrest that Tarta Design created for the Paralympics, held in Rio in September 2016, have been going around the world. Involuntary but exceptional testimonials of the 'made in Udine', were about thirty athletes from around the world. There would be no better way to communicate and share the Tarta Design philosophy: which is 'design for all' targeting disabled and non-disabled, children and the elderly, athletes and hard work in the office ... A suivre.

Marco Galante is the inventor of the patent Tarta®. Already owner of Dino and C. Galante company, with more than twenty years of experience in the field of posture, he develops here the concept of a completely new product. In 2010 then he founded the Tarta Design. He realizes a dream, something new based on a personal concept, appealing for the international market: an ergonomic, flexible, elastic, compact, easy to carry, durable backrest. It is designed in a modular way so that it can be built directly according to the structure of the single person asking for it and moreover devoted to the 'design for all’ philosophy.

Riccardo Mazzetti, who at the time of the launch of Tarta Design was a client of Orthopedics Galante, after a personal training path, joined the company in 2015.
"The intuition of Galante - Mazzetti says - was to combine quality products that are aesthetically beautiful but also by offering as well design cutting edge solutions for disabled people. This is a condition also increasingly required by families for children, so much that we launched the Tarta kids line with colors and lines specifically designed for them." The concept of Tarta Design models, awarded in various competitions, comes to life with 3D printing. And here it comes Mazzetti: designer and prototyper. Without any doubt, one of the architects of the company’s success: he takes care of the research and 3D modeling, a field in which he became a master.

We are in Pasian di Prato, close to Udine. Tarta Design headquarters have wide well-finished spaces,  more similar to a museum than to the workshop of a successful little Italian company.

The history of Tarta Design of Udine is the result of twenty years of experience in health orthopedics focusing on serious physical disabilities. Within few years, this small company of excellence based in Friuli decided to completely change its production, taking advantage of the evolution of materials and technological innovation, it opened the way for design and orthopedic solutions for small children. Overall the company employs 8 people.

Today's award-winning Tarta Design products are exported to more than 30 countries around the world, from New Zealand to Canada, from Australia to the United States via Japan, Korea, and Europe. After applying the 3D printing and prototyping of new products, having invested in design and communication, Tarta Design, since a year now, has decided to apply the same design principles to solutions for children with physical disabilities, aged from 7 months to 4 years.
